Akava awards Maret Puhk, Helsinki Mills’ Chairman of the Board, with Entrepreneur Award
Maret Puhk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Helsinki Mills, has been awarded the Akavan yrittäjäpalkinto (Akava Entrepreneur Award) 2020.- As a fourth-generation family business, it is important for us to look far into the future and create sustainable good around us, says Maret Puhk.
Maret Puhk's grandfather Eduard Puhk renovated the factory buildings located on the Sörnäinen coast road in Helsinki for mill use in 1934. Maret Puhk, chairman of the board and matriarch of the family, planned a career as a lawyer, but her blood called for her to continue the work of previous generations in the management of Helsinki Mills.
- I was doing well in the judiciary, but in the mid-1990s I began to feel that it was my duty to carry on the work of my grandfather and father. Now Helsinki Mills is in its fourth generation, with all three of my sons involved in the development of the company, says Maret Puhk, Master of Laws, senior lawyer, entrepreneur and member of the Association of Finnish Lawyers.
